American Papist Blog Joins CVA

In case the site changes aren’t obvious enough, here is the press release we issued moments ago:

CHICAGO – CatholicVoteAction.org announced today that the popular Catholic and politically-engaged blog, The American Papist, will relocate to CatholicVoteAction.org.

The American Papist, founded by Thomas Peters in 2005, has been the recipient of numerous awards for its excellent commentary on the Catholic Church, public policy, and culture. The American Papist won the the 2008 Catholic Blog Award for Best Political/Social Commentary, the 2009 Pro-Life Instigator Blog Award for Activism, and numerous awards in the 2009 Catholic New Media Awards. The American Papist routinely rates at or near the top in traffic for Catholic blogs with over 250,000 visits a month. American Papist content and commentary has been cited by dozens of online and print publications, and Mr. Peters has appeared on numerous television and radio programs discussing current Catholic issues.

Mr. Peters, editor and publisher of The American Papist, said CatholicVoteAction.org was a ‘natural home’ for his blog:

“I believe The American Papist has attracted a wide following of Catholics and other engaged citizens in part because of its healthy mix of news, commentary, humor and hopefulness. This balance helped make the decision to join the CatholicVote project an easy one for me. Both CatholicVote.org and CatholicVoteAction.org aspire to build a lay movement of Catholics that will positively influence both politics and culture, and that is at the heart of what I have attempted to do with American Papist. I encourage all my readers to join me at my new home at CatholicVoteAction.org, where I believe The American Papist can have an even greater impact in the critical months ahead.”

Brian Burch, President of CatholicVoteAction.org, believes this new partnership will better serve the members of CatholicVoteAction.org:

“The American Papist embodies the same vision of CatholicVote in responding to John Paul II’s call for a new springtime of evangelization. We are called to ‘open the doors’ to Christ and bring His message to every corner of the world, and that includes our public life as citizens in this great country. Our growing membership will benefit immensely from the content available on The American Papist. We’re excited about this new partnership and look forward to continuing to grow the CatholicVoteAction.org project,” said Burch.

CatholicVoteAction.org is a project of Fidelis, the 501c4 legislative arm of CatholicVote.org.
